Tacx Fortius & Computrainer
Want to ride around the Spanish island of Mallorca or up the French mountain Mont Ventoux? Now you can. With Tacx and Computrainer there are many course/rides now available to you.
The Tacx Fortius and Computrainer are world recognized virtual reality cycling trainers. They are used by clients at all fitness levels to improve their cycling techniques and cardio fitness. These virtual reality bikes respond to the 3D interactive graphics/video displayed on large screens (no goofy helmets or visors to wear) directly in front of the bikes. For example, while you’re cycling up a long hill in Grand Teton National Park, the pedal resistance increases according to the grade of the hill. While cycling around Penticton, your pedal resistance can decrease if you choose to draft behind another cyclist. Both Tacx and Computrainer monitor real time data such as heart rate, cadence, power, speed and distance.
The Computrainer allows riders to cycle hundreds of different courses while enjoying computer generated images of rolling hills of the Arizona desert, BC’s Okanagan valley, Washington state coast and more. With the Computrainer’s split screen function, you can also ride against one of your previous rides or with a friend on a bike beside you. The split screen also allows you or your coach to analyze your pedal stroke with Spin Scan software while cycling one of the many interesting courses.
With the Tacx Fortius you can cycle using interactive real life video to ride with the pros on many European classic cycling routes or just climb the monster mountains of some of these grueling courses on your own. The video footage speeds up and slows down as your speed changes and the resistance on your pedals also changes with wind conditions, hills, etc.
The experience may be “virtual” but the fun and the fitness results are very real! Check out the video footage of a Tacx Fortius bike in action by clicking the link on the homepage.
