Jennifer Parks is a certified instructor with Yoga Alliance, the largest, most highly-recognized teacher training program in the world. A graduate of the Kshatriya Teacher Training Program, she studied hatha yoga, pranayama (breathing techniques), anatomy and yoga philosophy under the inspired, top-tier tutelage of Edmonton’s most gifted, skilled facilitators.
Jennifer’s passion for yoga as a total mind-body healing system and lifestyle began in 2001, while slogging it out in the caffeine- and deadline-induced haze of a busy newsroom.
Yoga awakened in her greater strength, vitality, peace and well-being than ever before. The “eastern” practice for mind-body health tapped a well so deep in potential, she had to share it with anyone who’d listen!
It’s no coincidence yoga is exploding in the west. Today athletes use it as cross-training, doctors suggest it as complimentary medicine and millions of people are getting a “work-in” with their “work-out” so they can live life more fully. Jennifer feels lucky every day to be supporting others on their path.
Jennifer travelled to Costa Rica in 2005 to learn from top vinyasa yoga instructor Shiva Rea and was inspired by the power of flow yoga to awaken dormant creativity and life force.
Since then, she's taught hundreds of studio, corporate and community classes in Edmonton that cater to all fitness levels, from practitioners with limited mobility to competitive athletes. Jennifer currently teaches flow, hatha, ashtanga, restorative and teen/family yoga.
Whether you’re a beginner with injuries and/or medical conditions or a seasoned yogi looking for challenge and fun, Jennifer’s warmth, enthusiasm and sincere desire to help each student progress at their own pace, creates a safe, inspired and ego-free space to learn, play and grow!
